Keep flying – but only if you are British and rich is the clear message the government is pushing. They did it with inflated covid test prices, they have done it with saying only NHS jabs are valid to avoid quarantine, they are pandering to a broke travel industry and climate change is not part of that equation at all. Nor at the millions of families who are now stranded not only by covid but by the sheer economics of reuniting their kids with grandma.

Boris won’t close borders, because he doesn’t want airlines to claime massive compensation, and he daren’t inconvenience rich Tory donors. “self isolation” doesn’t cost him anything! Ban the rich from flying & driving monster cars to save the enviroment……..and see nothing happening (as much chance as China cleaning up their act) – saving the enviroment will only be applicable to the masses as we don’t matter until election year! It’s important to keep things as ‘fair’ as possible in order to get public buy-in… but there’s never going to be a way around the fact that wealthier people have greater access to goods and services than poorer people. We can introduce measures that affect the gap between rich and poor, but the nature of a market economy is that you can access better, rarer, and more in-demand goods by spending more money. Sometimes people pay extra because that good or service is more important to them, but sometimes people pay extra because they have more to spend. That doesn’t strike me as a problem inherent to decarbonisation or other green plans… it’s just the kind of economy and society that we’ve chosen to create and live in. Ever looked into the studies of carbon…carbon free is a movement to less freedoms yet again for us minions. Its the big ones that cause the majority of climate issue. If they really cared they would stop gmo crops which interfers with out food chain, stop plastic, stop private jets etc. Thwir lives won’t change… At any point in time, somewhere in the world there is an exceptional weather event taking place. This has happened since the dawn of time and will hopefully continue to be the case long into the future. The BBC et al take these events, sensationalise them and Harrabin or one of his many colleagues come along to tell us that it is further evidence of Climate Change. It is not, it is just weather. If they’re so sure of their thesis why don’t they allow any debate with those that take an alternative view.
